LGBTQI+ Couples & Relationship Counselling
Radical monogamy, monogamish, CNM, open, kink or poly… not all relationships and the people within them are the same. Work with a therapist who appreciates the difference.
I work online with clients across Australia and internationally
Relationships can feel out of sync even when life on paper looks successful. You may notice you are drifting into parallel lives, repeating familiar arguments, or sensing that your identities and relationship structure have outgrown old agreements.
This focused, high engaging process offers clear insight into what is happening between you, an evidence informed plan for communication and repair, and practical skills for stronger communication, renewed connection, and more intentional agreements so your relationship feels as considered and high performing as the rest of your life.
Drawing on an integration of contemporary relational psychotherapy, Gottman research, and deep experience with LGBTQI+, CNM, open, kink, and poly relationships, our work together focuses on understanding patterns, developing communication and conflict skills and strengthening connection.

About me
I have been helping couples navigate complex, contemporary relationships for over a decade. I work with reflective individuals and partners who want thoughtful, evidence‑informed support to understand their patterns, repair trust, and build a relationship that reflects who they actually are. Drawing on training in Transactional Analysis, the Gottman Method, and contemporary relational and Jungian perspectives, I offer a structured approach that brings together personal history, cognitive and communication skills, and the developmental and unconscious dynamics that shape how partners relate.
I have particular experience with gender, sexual, and relationship diverse (GSRD) clients, including LGBTQI+, CNM, open, kink, and poly relationships. Couples+ working with me can expect a calm, reflective space, clear feedback and tailored strategies that respect their identities, relationship structure, and professional lives.
I am a PACFA Registered Clinical Psychotherapist, Certified Transactional Analyst (Psychotherapy), and Gottman Level 3 practitioner and have worked as a relationship therapist for 13 years. I work online with clients and supervisees (individual and group) across Australia and internationally.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who are these programs designed for?
These programs are designed for adults in gender, sexual, and relationship diverse contexts - including LGBTIQ+, monogamous, CNM, open, kink, and poly relationships - who want structured support for their relationship. They are particularly suited to professionals balancing complex careers with equally complex relationship lives. Although gender, sexual and relationship diversity is a focus of my work I also work with cisgender, heteronormative couples.
Is this coaching or therapy, and how is it framed ethically?
The work draws on psychotherapy and Gottman training and research. The focus is on assessment, skill-building, and relational understanding rather than promises of a ‘cure’ or guaranteed outcomes. There can be no guarantees about the success of any therapeutic intervention, as research clearly indicates that so many factors intersect to determine the success of a therapeutic outcome. I offer to help you on your relationship journey. The work of relationship therapy falls mainly to the couple themselves.
What can we realistically expect from the Relationship Checkup?
The relationship checkup should provide a clearer picture of your relationship’s strengths, a shared language for addressing its challenges, and specific recommendations for enhancing communication and connection. Some choose to continue with further work (such as the enhancement program), while others use the insights to guide their own next steps.
How is the Relationship Enhancement Program different from standard couples therapy?
The enhancement program integrates contemporary relational psychotherapy, an affirmative approach and, where appropriate, a Gottman‑based framework tailored for gender, sexuality and relationship diversity. Sessions are organised around assessment, feedback, skill development, and consolidation, providing a clearly mapped process rather than open‑ended, indefinite therapy. Working beyond the 10 sessions is possible but is based on a new agreement which can be considered at the end of the Enhancement program.
Do we need to be in crisis to work with you?
No. In fact, these programs are specifically not for relationships in crisis. Clients engage with these programs to deepen understanding, reset after transitions, or proactively strengthen connection, rather than waiting until things are unmanageable. The checkup and enhancement options both support early intervention and growth‑focused work. Complex, high distress and situations of risk are not appropriate for these programs. In situations where there is family violence, serious and risky substance use disorder or where there are major mental health issues involved, the programs do not represent optimal support and are not designed to account for these complex situations.
How are privacy and confidentiality managed with these programs?
Sessions are held online via a secure platform, and all data and personal/sensitive information collection and storage comply with Australian Privacy Principles. All participants in the programs are provided with detailed information about privacy policies and procedures as part of the program induction. Confidentiality is strictly adhered to except for serious/dangerous situations where there is a significant risk, in which case the therapist is required to break confidentiality to protect participant safety.
Can I claim Medicare rebates or use a mental health plan for the program and do the programs attract private health insurance rebates?
Medicare does not cover couples therapy in Australia, and I choose not to work with private insurers.
Does online couples therapy work as well as in person couples therapy?
Online relationship therapy can be as effective as face-to-face therapy, with research showing comparable outcomes for relationship satisfaction and communication skills. Studies support telehealth’s efficacy, especially when therapists use evidence-based approaches and maintain strong therapeutic alliances.
What happens if we split up or need a break from the sessions or for some reason cannot complete the five or ten sessions?
I understand that circumstances can change. Options might include putting the program on hold to recommence within the calendar year. Options and solutions would be determined collaboratively on a case-by-case basis.
